When we say modern painting, we don't want to dwell on modern painting per se as movement that occurred after some period. We want to be more literal here by knowing what modern is from something that looks so antique.
Modern wall paintings are usually now used as corporate art rather than what are being heralded inside the museum which creations were dated back in renaissance if not during ancient times. Classic ones are antique and must really cost a buyer an arm and leg. Nowadays, we do not see any practical reason for that except for a heavy investment but as for decoration at home or at work to give brightness and positive vibe to a space, then let it be a modern collection of art.
